When people are young, they often think that drinking is harmless and just good clean fun that won’t wind them up in a Mississauga drug treatment center, and for many of these people that’s true. However, there is a segment of the population that is prone to addiction and for these people being careful around alcohol is a good idea.

One of the reasons that young people need to watch their alcohol consumption is the fact that they suffer less of the adverse side effects than older people. Therefore they don’t learn the negative consequences as quickly as someone who starts drinking later in life.

There have also been suggestions like the one made through ‘The Facts on Alcoholism’ published through the Oxford University Press that younger people require more alcohol than older people to get the same effects. Some experts think this makes drinking in your younger years fertile ground for an escalation as you get older.

Regardless of your age, being aware of what the right Mississauga drug rehab center can do for you when it comes to alcoholism is a good idea. A natural drug detox coupled with rehabilitation is the method many people have used to get and stay sober.

Do you often drink more than you planned to? Are you finding that more and more what was once just recreational drug use is affecting your relationships with family and friends? You might want to consider getting in touch with the right Mississauga drug treatment center.

There are some things that make one of these Mississauga rehab center locations more effective than others and first and foremost is their approach to the entire treatment question. The best of these places understand that 100% natural detox and rehabilitation is the preferred method and that while use doesn’t automatically lead to abuse, there are some common symptoms like anxiety or depression that can trigger the beginning of a problem.

A family history of one kind of addiction or another can be seen as an early warning sign and traumatic childhood experiences can be another indicator a person might have a problem. Getting the right help is all about finding the right drug rehab Ontario that understands the nature of the problem and how to treat it with drug-free biophysical detoxification coupled with the right life skills training.

In Ontario, as anywhere else in Canada, many parents face a time when they think their child or teen may be addicted to drugs. Substance abuse is a huge issue globally, and ignoring the fact that there may be an addict in the family won’t make it go away. In some families, the parents will assume or expect the other parent to be the one to act. The best plan of action is for both parents to discuss it amongst themselves and come up with a plan. Even if it is decided that one parent do most of the talking, both should be there when it is brought up to the child. There must be a sense of unity when discussing substance abuse and drug rehab.

It is best for the Mother and/or Father to recognize and confront the child rather than waiting until the school or legal system take control. If your Son or Daughter may be doing drugs, or drinking alcohol, you must act. It may not be fun, and it may not be easy, but it must be done. If there is only one parent in the family, it makes it even more difficult, but still must be faced. Anger may be the first response, but try to talk to the teen in a calm manner and stress the fact that you love them. Barging in yelling and screaming won’t solve anything, and the teen will be more apt to rebel against help.

The rate of drug use by youth 15-24 years of age remains much higher than that reported by adults 25 years and older. These are the same youth we rely on to become the next leaders of our society, and productive members of the community. Drug abuse doesn’t only destroy lives, it destroys future livelihoods. It is imperative that action be taken if substance abuse is suspected. There is help available. Ontario rehab can help turn a teen’s life around for the better. Narconon counselors (1-888-505-2827) are available to speak with seven days a week. They can offer valuable and experienced knowledge as well as tips to help you deal with the situation. You do not have to do it alone.

Whether it is Mother, Father, or both who confront the situation, it should be done quickly… and often. One talk is not always enough. However, nagging never helped anything, so be prepared to take the situation to the next level if possible. An intervention may be necessary. Remember that your child may initially be angry, but if successful, they will thank you later. You may be the only thing that stands between your child and either death, or incarceration. The pain of having an addict in the family only increases as the addiction gets stronger. The sooner you act, the sooner your child can be headed toward a better life and a brighter future.

Teens and children face temptation almost each and every day. There are drugs readily available, and chances are that even if your child is not addicted yet, some of the kids they know are. Keeping the lines of communication open about drugs and drug addiction can mean the difference between life and death for your teen. Discussing the problem before it becomes an issue is best, but if you already suspect that your son or daughter may be using drugs, do it immediately. Drug addiction is a serious problem, and no one is immune. More and more are faced with having a drug addict in the family. Narconon can help you to avoid, or to end that problem. If you don’t talk to your kids about drug abuse, who will?

North Bay, Ontario has a normal population of about 54,000 people, but with two local colleges (approximately 7,000 students), the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 22nd Wing home base, and a Canadian Force Army Reserve Unit stationed there, the actual population of the town is well over that number. Along with growth comes the problems associated with larger populations and that, unfortunately, includes alcohol, drugs, crime, and addiction.

A 2009 student poll showed that alcohol is the most commonly used drug in Ontario, with over 58% of students reporting use during the previous 12 months. Following marijuana (25.6%), the non-medical use of prescription opioid pain relievers, such as codeine, Percocet, Percodan, Demerol, or Tylenol #3, ranks third at almost 18%.

Up until a couple of years ago, a small percentage of calls into the Ontario Drug & Alcohol Helpline involved prescription drugs; now that figure averages about 50%.

The first step for those addicted to opiates who want to get off the drugs is to detox. The detoxification process cleanses your body of drug residue that is left in your system, but many drug treatment centers will give a patient methadone to help relieve the pain of coming off the drug. Methadone is actually a stronger pain medication; in theory, the dosage is decreased gradually until no longer needed. Methadone, however, has many side effects, one of the most serious being depressed respiratory system. Also, the patient has the possibility of becoming addicted to the methadone instead of the original opiate; being a stronger pain reliever, it also creates a stronger dependency, making it very difficult to kick the addiction.

The Narconon program uses a unique natural drug-free biophysical detoxification combined with extensive life skills and educational models of treatment. Narconon is the only treatment center in the world that provides a biophysical detoxification program. This uniquely designed program gives our clients an opportunity to naturally clean their body out of all drug and alcohol toxins and poisons. They are put on a specific regime of exercise, nutritional supplementation, and induced sweating in a dry heat sauna. This step of the program greatly increases the chance of successfully completing treatment, and remaining drug free.

With physical drug cravings eliminated and the student now in a healthy and alert state, they are now able to focus on the remaining aspects of the program. The Narconon program includes classes on how to effectively communicate, in addition to how to better deal with stress, among other topics. It is a long term, residential program that typically lasts from 3-6 months.

Narconon is one of the most recommended rehabilitation programs around the world. Why? Because we have produced thousands and thousands of graduates internationally over the years, who remain drug-free. This long-term success is primarily due to the structured treatment methods used throughout the program. Since 1966, Narconon has helped individuals overcome drug addiction as well as alcoholism. Information about addictions, interventions and more is available to the public.

Narconon Counselors are also available to give straight answers to the tough questions. For more information on the Narconon Drug Treatment for Ontario citizens, please call 1-888-505-2827.

Not only is it heartbreaking, it is also costly, and deadly. Help with alcohol addiction, and alcoholism often is ignored because people simply do not want to think of it as part of the drug dilemma. Interestingly, it is women, more than men who suffer the effects of long term alcohol use and addiction. That could perhaps be that alcohol is considered acceptable, considered it is legal. The consequences, however, can be devastating.

Fetal Alcoholic Syndrome

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is the leading known cause of developmental disabilities in Canada. In fact, it has been called a leading health concern, leading to countless studies to try to find ways to curb the epidemic. Logically, since the only cause of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is the consumption of alcohol by the mother while pregnant, the answer is obvious. Getting help for the alcoholic before disaster strikes can mean one less child born with disabilities that often lead to death. No mother, even an alcoholic, wants this to happen to a child, but rehabilitation is often a difficult decision for an alcohol addict to make.

The Right Way to Recover from Addiction

With addictions, even alcohol addictions, the need to get high or drunk mentally takes priority for an individual. Let the chips fall where they may, an addict must have their fix. It is only by removing the substance from their body (via detoxification), can the healing begin. Once that is done, the alcoholic must learn new ways of coping with stressors, and understand what started the addiction to begin with. Optimally, this should be done before pregnancy, but receiving help at any point is better than continuing to drink from start to finish.

Narconon offers comprehensive, drug-free, long term alcohol treatment that has helped thousands of people put alcoholism in the past. Women who are alcoholic and become pregnant benefit more from intervention to obtain rehabilitation than intervention from the government. A safe environment, free from temptation is much better than incarceration facing the loss of a child by social services. The only way to stop fetal alcohol syndrome is to stop the alcohol addiction.

The Need for Alcohol Intervention

In and around Newmarket, Ontario, there are women who need treatment, not judgment and threats. Some women come forward of their own volition and seek help. Others must be urged by loved ones, and at times an intervention may be necessary. Deep down, however, the woman knows it is what is best for herself and her child. The anger that comes from an intervention is far less lasting than the guilt from giving birth to a child with alcohol related disabilities.

Help for alcoholics and drug rehab treatment for Ontario is only a phone call away. The addict, or their friends and loved ones are welcome to find out more information about alcohol, and the effects on the unborn child. The problem simply cannot be ignored, nor can the possible consequences of drinking while pregnant. Through rehabilitation, two lives could be saved.

To get on the road of alcohol recovery, please call 1-888-505-2827.

While the United States has had an ongoing problem with Oxycontin and Oxycodone, Canada is now beginning to see the negative effects of the drug. Since it was approved in Canada several years ago, there has been growing concern about addiction levels as well as crime levels, especially in Ontario. In 2009 St. Michaels Hospital issued a press release that stated that from 2004 to 2009, deaths from opioids in Ontario had doubled. Not surprisingly, they also found that prescriptions for Oxycontin had risen 850% and that in 2006, there were 7.2 million prescriptions written for Oxy in Ontario.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The Road to OxyContin Addiction video – A true story

In 2009, the CBC reported that doctors were to be given a “guide” about Oxycontin prescriptions. This occurred because the Canadian Medical Association had found that 300 people die from the drug each year in Ontario. Studies so far have covered Ontario proper, and normally do not state statistics concerning the Toronto area alone. Regardless, Toronto officials have realized that bringing Oxycontin into Canada has caused problems that may be very difficult to solve.

The Health Minister, Deb Matthews said in 2010 that she wanted to introduce legislation that would track prescriptions for all health plans, public and private. Officials are well aware of the growing problems that are involved with Oxycontin addictions. Overall, they are very concerned about the level of prescriptions written, use, and level of abuse of Oxycontin in Toronto. In one study mentioned by the Health Minister, one patient was given over 2000 Oxycontin pills.

With only three months into 2011, headlines are already being made about the rise in crime due to Oxycontin. A string of pharmacy robberies in Toronto were targeted for Oxycontin robbery in February of this year. Also in February, a popular Pizza restaurant was involved in a drug bust which yielded $1 million in drugs. These are only two of the examples of how Oxycontin is making the headlines in Toronto, and not in a good way.

Oxycontin was allowed into Canada because it was claimed to have been a proven method of pain relief. Since that time, it has become much more a source of trouble and devastation than pain relief. As far as the levels of Oxycontin and Oxycodone in Toronto, they show no signs of slowing. In fact, chances are, judging from the news, it is increasing every day. As long as doctors continue to prescribe the drug, there will be those becoming addicted.

If you know someone addicted to OxyContin, you can get help for them by calling Narconon Trois-Rivières: 1-877-782-7409.

Doctor’s continue to prescribe this drug, some negligently, to the point where some have many patients now addicted to it. People of Ontario bury too many of their own due to the powerful effects of this widely used drug. It’s time to ask; “What are the OxyContin rehab treatment and options if I live in Ontario?”

OxyContin Rehab Treatment and Option for Ontario #1: Denial and Enabling

Denial and enabling seem to be the two most prevalent choices for dealing with Oxy addiction. Sadly, these are not options that will end happily for anyone involved. Therefore, option #1 is not really an option, but a deadly choice. This option should be eliminated if there is to be any kind of happy ending at all. Here is a hint: Oxy addiction will not end by “understanding” what the addict is going through. Nor will it end by “not making waves.”

OxyContin Rehab Treatment and Options for Ontario #2: Self-help

Those who attempt to quit Oxy cold turkey as they would quit smoking cigarettes should be commended. If an honest effort is put forth, it is a positive sign, and should be recognized by loved ones and friends. Unfortunately, this powerful opioid drug may be dangerous to quite without the help of a professional. Also, because of the OxyContin withdrawal, most do not succeed in this endeavor, but it does show that the Oxy addict is willing to make an effort and is a great sign. It is wise to build on this option even if it does not succeed.

OxyContin Rehab Treatment and Options for Ontario #3: Out-Patient Treatment

Part time, short-term and out patient treatment is available in the Ontario area for treatment of OxyContin addiction. Again, while it is a valiant effort, it does not have a good success rate. Addiction to OxyContin is one of the strongest known. Interestingly, while out-patient treatment does teach positive steps to recovery, it is mostly a “band aid” solution.

OxyContin Rehab Treatment and Options for Ontario #4: Medication Therapy

If the ultimate goal is to beat Oxy addiction, medical therapy may seem the solution. Methadone is used extensively by many treatment centers, but there is a catch. If it is thought out logically, medical therapy using Methadone does not stop addiction; it simply replaces the drug used. It is a continuation of addiction, only the addict becomes hooked on Methadone instead of Oxyconin. An option, yes; A solution, no.

OxyContin Rehab Treatment and Options for Ontario #5: Proven Long-Term Drug-Free Rehab

There you have it; an option which helps the addict overcome addiction completely, without drugs. An option for Ontario which provides the methods proven successful is available. Drug-free, comprehensive treatment of Oxycontin addiction is available through Narconon Trois-Rivieres. They provide long term treatment to overcome all addictions, while providing the information necessary to stay drug-free after the rehabilitation program ends.

Oxycontin addiction treatment is not easy. It takes commitment and a desire to live a happy, healthy life. Ontario residents have an option that solves all issues concerning Oxy addiction. Any effort is a commendable effort. However, the best effort is one that is successful, such as opting for the method that is most successful: Narconon Trois-Rivieres.

For over 45 years, the international network of Narconon drug rehab centers have helped thousands and thousands of substance abusers to take their life back from addictions. That includes people who were addicted the prescription drugs such as OxyContin.

Increased crime rates, pharmacy robberies and homelessness are three of the growing problems that can be associated directly and indirectly to Oxy addiction in Toronto. Canadian officials, rehab centers, and physicians are scrambling to prepare for, and get treatment for the increasing number of addicts. Also on the agenda is preventing that number from rising any further, and hopefully seeing the numbers fall.

Between 2000 and 2004, there were 571 persons admitted for opioid detoxification, according to the CFP (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2628831/”). In that time, the number of Oxy addict admissions increased 3.8% in the year 2000, to 55.4% in 2004. It was also found that the amount of Oxy used was substantially higher than that of a normal prescription dosage. Interestingly, during that same time, heroin addictions seemed to remain rather steady.

Most studies, including that of CFP conclude that a physician’s prescription was the most common source of supply, as well as the original source of the addiction. There has long been a public outcry in Canada and the U.S. to convince doctors to prescribe Oxy so often, since it commonly leads to addiction. Apparently, they continue to write them, even increasing the amount of Oxy prescriptions written annually.

Oxy has only been approved for prescription for 16 years. Healthzone.ca (http://www.healthzone.ca/health/article/580198) reported in 2009 that $54 million prescriptions for Oxy had been written. That triples the amount that had been prescribed only 5 years earlier. Interestingly, the number of deaths attributed to Oxy in 2008 was 123, according to the Ontario Centre for Forensic Science. That was up from 63 in 2004.

The ODB (Ontario Drug Benefit) plan pays for over half of the prescriptions written for Oxy in the Toronto area. When they contacted Purdue Pharm, the manufacturer of the drug, they were told that prescription fraud and theft played a part in the growing number of addictions and deaths. Conversely, if the drug weren’t legal, there would be no prescription fraud or theft. Officials struggle to keep the problem under control.

Leading drug rehab centers, such as Narconon Trois-Rivieres, lead the fight against Oxy addictions, and are also vocal about stopping the problem where it begins; with the prescription availability. Their doors are always open at Narconon to help anyone who needs it. They also put out helpful PSAs concerning the growing problem with Oxy addiction in Toronto, and globally. Far too many lives have already been affected.

For people who live in Ontario, Narconon offers OxyContin detox and rehab treatment that is effective and successful, using non–traditional, drug-free methods.

Traditional methods for drug rehab use substitute drugs, and provide incomplete drug detox, that often leaves an addict with cravings and vulnerability to continued drug dependence. Using natural, drug-free methods is the road to full addiction recovery and a new way of life. Part of the comprehensive oxy addiction recovery plan offered by Narconon, includes complete detox methods that uses dry heat sauna combined with nutritional supplements and exercise. When the Narconon detox methods are used, it removes the drug residues from the body and puts an end to physical cravings. Narconon detox methods get addicts really clean, and completely free of drugs.

Residential addiction recovery centers like Narconon Trois-Rivieres, are considered by many to be the best option for people seeking complete addiction recovery. Immersed in surroundings that are tranquil and calming is the perfect environment to assist complete addiction recovery. Using a residential program enables people to relax and focus on the work of addiction recovery, and begin a new way of life.

It is easy to miss the wood for the trees when dealing with drug use and addiction. Lance Armstrong entitles his recent book about his life as an Olympic cyclist, and his heroic struggle overcome cancer – “It is Not About the Bike”. Lance Armstrong’s book is a celebration of life, about facing personal challenge, and overcoming adversity.

Similarly with drug use and addiction it is not about the drugs. Drug use and any other compulsive behavior is just a means to an end, a symptom of problems in our life that we are trying to resolve. Drug use is an indicator that we have problems that need to be resolved.

Non-traditional methods of drug rehabilitation like Narconon‘s, look beyond the issues that relate to drug use and enable people to take a look at themselves, to find out what causes them pain, and provides them with the methods and strategies to create a new and better life. Non-traditional methods for drug rehabilitation don’t focus on ways to avoid drug use, but help a person to create a new life for themselves – in which drug use has no place.

By resolving the underlying tensions and pressures that generate compulsive behavior and drug use, addiction recovery is complete – with no more desire to use drugs, and no continued cravings.

If you live in Ontario, and have become addicted to using OxyContin for relief from pain and tension, there is a better way – tried and tested methods that you can use to overcome your addiction. There are many successful graduates of the Narconon program today who live happy, contented lives – free of addiction, and drug use.

Anyone can achieve full recovery from drug use using natural drug-free methods for detox and rehabilitation. Non-traditional methods for drug rehabilitation will change your life forever – and for the better. People in Ontario, looking for effective oxycontin rehab treatment need look no further than Narconon Trois-Rivières.
